Family Futures Resource Network offers child and youth programs developed to increase social skills for children and youth ages 6-18 such as problem-solving; friendship building; anger management; communication; bullying support; goal setting and girl empowerment. These evidence-informed programs incorporate the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Asset Building research and have been well received and sought after.

Please note, that some of our Early Childhood Development programs go up to 6-years-old.

13-18 years | This lively program combines hands-on art activities, improv theatre, and spoken word poetry to create an inclusive atmosphere where young minds can explore, collaborate, and connect.
For youth ages: 12-18 years | This in-depth training course helps youth develop skills to be a successful babysitter. These transferable skills are delivered with the use of lectures, small group discussions, problem-solving, inquiry, role-playing and instructor-led demonstrations.
This program has been developed by the Canada Safety Council and is designed for young people who will reach the age of 12 or older within the calendar year. A final exam will be held in the last session. Participants must attend all sessions and obtain a passing grade of 75% on the final exam to obtain certification.

8–17 years | Get active, build confidence, and have fun! Girls Multi-Sport Madness is an exciting program designed to introduce girls to a variety of sports in a positive, empowering environment. From volleyball and basketball to soccer and more, participants will build skills, make new friends, and boost their confidence through teamwork and play.

14–18 years | In this program, we will teach you about the world of “adulting” when it comes to budgeting, meal planning, self-care, job applications, resume writing, interviews and more. Build more confidence being independent by joining us for this informative and interactive program.
13–18 years | Youth at the Wheel is an interactive program designed to support youth in learning the knowledge needed to obtain their learner’s permit to drive in Alberta. Essential topics such as traffic rules, road safety, and responsible driving habits will be covered.
For youth ages: 8-17 years | The After-School Youth Connections Drop-In Program, in collaboration with the City of Edmonton, will consist of a variety of youth led activities such as painting, drawing, sculpting, drama, improv, board games, and physical pursuits. Fun activities will be planned for youth to build social connections and friendships in a supportive environment. The Youth Connections Program will be offered in 3 City of Edmonton recreational centres on the south side of Edmonton.
For youth ages: 11-24 years | The Youth Connections Drop-In Program at Kickstand offers a wide range of creative activities for youth, including painting, drawing, sculpting, crocheting, mixed media projects and so much more. Each session features fun, hands-on art experiences designed to help participants express themselves, make new friends, and build strong social connections in a supportive and welcoming environment.
13–18 years | This program is an introduction to the world of performance arts. Through interactive activities with a focus on improvisation, character development, and community building; youth will explore the world of theatre. Participants will also direct and act in a one-act play. The final week of this program will be a performance.
Family Futures Resource Network provides information, education and support to individuals, parents and families. We are the only family resource centre in south Edmonton, that offers this range of services and programs. We are a network of programming sites embedded within the communities we serve.
