Family Futures is EXPANDING and opening a new location in south east Edmonton! We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual for the newly created position of:

 

 

Family & Adult Superviser
(Permanent/Full-Time)

Reporting to the Community Support Manager, the Family and Adult Supervisor is a member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for delivering and developing programs providing support to families (including parenting education) and adults as well as organizing events. The Family and Adult Supervisor will recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff, volunteers, and students. This includes conducting performance appraisals, managing schedules, monitoring program delivery, agency administration, and committee work when needed. The Family and Adult Supervisor is responsible for the facility management of the south west location, developing partnerships with organizations, and attending network events and meetings.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Post-Secondary Diploma in a Human Services field or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience working with families and adults in a preventative capacity.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a paid supervisory role.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR and Suicide Intervention.
  • Solid understanding of child development and family dynamics is essential.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Experience of working with marginalized and/or culturally diverse groups is an asset.
  • Experience of program development and facilitation for children, families and adults.
  • Understanding of current trends and issues impacting families with young children.
  • Experience with the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills.
  • Strong professional boundaries.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, work environment and work demands.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
  • Valid Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check.

Hours of Work:

  • Full time position - 37.5 hours/week.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, which could include daytime, evening and weekend hours (Saturdays).

Parent Educator
(Permanent/Full-Time)

The Parent Educator connects and supports parents through facilitation of group education sessions including early years, family, and adult programming; before and after group session follow-up and support; information and referrals; and development screening opportunities.

The Parent Educator will assist parents/caregivers in finding solutions to their parenting challenges by identifying and building on their strengths, assisting them in finding tools and community resources to enrich their problem-solving skills, and foster independence.  The Parent Educator is responsible for building consistent, respectful and trusting relationships with families, while helping them to set goals.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in a relevant Human Service field.

  • Minimum of three years program facilitation with experience of working with parents and families.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience of program development and strong group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and age appropriate behavioral management strategies.
  • Familiar with and knowledge of accessing community resources.
  • Experience of working with families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Understanding of current trends, research and issues relating to families raising children.
  • Excellent  communication, computer and organization skills.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to be a respectful and collaborative team member.
  • Previous Triple P and ASQ training an asset.
  • Parenting experience is an asset.

  • Valid Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check.

Program Facilitator

As a member of our Family & Adult team, the Program Facilitator delivers a range of family and adult programming, including programs with children in their early years. This position will also provide referrals and outreach services to program participants; assist in other program areas, and carry out agency administration.

Family Mentor
(Permanent/Full-Time)

The Family Mentor works in the Family Mentorship Program and is responsible for supporting families in their homes. They work collaboratively with families to set goals for their children’s health and well being while utilizing a solution-focused approach. The Family Mentor builds strong trusting relationships and provides support in: linking families with other services, providing relevant information and resources, helping parents/ caregivers with child development, and assisting families with positive parenting strategies.

In-home support is provided to families with children up to the age of five and those with prenatal needs.  The Family Mentorship Program offers support on a weekly basis for families who are parenting for the first time and are experiencing multiple stressors that may impact their ability to parent successfully.   As families develop support systems and learn to manage crises, the support visits decrease. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Post Secondary Diploma in a Human Services field.
  • Three (3) years direct experience working with families and children, including those who are marginalized and/or culturally diverse.
  • Ability to speak an additional language an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge in maternal and infant health and knowledge in prevention of child abuse and neglect.
  • Familiar with community resources to facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Experience providing support to families in their homes an asset.
  • Team player.  Computer literate.  Proficient verbal and written English.
  • Valid Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle. 

Hours of Work: 

Full time position at  37.5 hours/week. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which could include daytime, evening and a possibility of weekend hours.

Summer Activities Programmers
(Temporary/Full-Time)

Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2017. Starting salary $14.15/hour dependent upon experience

POST SECONDARY STUDENTS WELCOME! These fun and rewarding positions will require you to use your skills, knowledge, and training while fostering the social development of children ages 3 – 13 years. These positions are ideal for education, social work, human ecology or child & youth care students. You will gain experience working directly with children and have the opportunity to develop program facilitation skills in a supportive team environment. Must be a returning post-secondary student to qualify for this position.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with children and youth ranging from 3 – 13 years in camp/program settings
  • Engaging with parents/caregivers and families of participants
  • Assisting in the development of camp/program curriculum and facilitate daily program plans
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all children by adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Working collaboratively with agency staff to ensure a positive camp experience for all

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be registered in a full-time post-secondary program in Fall 2017
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience working with children
  • Desire to support the healthy growth and development of children  
  • CPR/ First Aid is an asset
  • Must have a recent Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check (completed within the past 3 months)

Family Futures Resource Network is seeking new opportunities to grow our programs!  We are currently recruiting casual Contract Facilitators to deliver programs in the area of early childhood development, child care, and adult support.  Experience working in early childhood development is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in program facilitation and adult education.
  • Experience in curriculum delivery.
  • Direct experience working with families and children, including those who are marginalized and/or culturally diverse.
  • Solid knowledge of child development and family dynamics. 
  • Familiar with community resources to facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Team player.  Computer literate.  Proficient verbal and written English.
