Child and Youth Supervisor (Full Time/Permanent)

Reporting to the Community Support Manager, the Child and Youth Supervisor is a member of the Leadership team and is responsible for developing and implementing preventative programs aimed at children, youth and their families, including our busy summer and spring camp programs. The Child and Youth Supervisor will supervise program staff; this includes conducting performance appraisals, supporting team meetings, managing schedules, supporting facilitation, and monitoring program delivery.  The Child and Youth Supervisor will work to ensure agency objectives are met and contribute to a positive team culture and environment. Liaison within the community and building relationships will be also a key part of this role.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Post-Secondary Diploma in a Human Services field or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience working with children and youth in a preventative capacity.
  • Significant experience in recruitment, training, and supervision of staff members.
  • Solid understanding of child/youth development and family dynamics.
  • Experience of program development and facilitation for children and youth and their families.
  • Understanding of current trends and youth work practices.
  • Experience of working with marginalized and/or culturally diverse groups is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills.
  • Strong professional boundaries.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, work environment and work demands.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
  • Valid Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check.

 

Hours of Work:

Full time position:  37.5 hours/week. Willing to work a flexible schedule, which could include daytime, evening, and weekend hours.

Program Facilitator (Full-Time/Permanent)

As a member of our dynamic programming team, the Program Facilitator delivers a range of family and adult programming, including programs with children in their early years. This position will also provide referrals and outreach services to program participants; assist in other program areas, and carry out agency administration.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in a relevant Human Service field.
  • Minimum of three years program facilitation with experience of working with families.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of program development and strong group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, childhood development, and age appropriate behavioral management strategies.
  • Familiar with and knowledge of accessing community resources.
  • Experience of working with families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent  communication, computer and organization skills.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to be a respectful and collaborative team member.
  • Previous Triple P and ASQ training is an asset.

Other:

  • Valid Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.

Summer Activities Programmers (Full Time /Term Positions – 37.5 hrs/wk)

Work hours between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Mon - Fri.  Evening and weekend work may be required.

Term Contract: June 11 – August 31, 2018

Starting salary $14.15/hour dependent upon experience

 

POST SECONDARY STUDENTS WELCOME! These fun and rewarding positions will require you to use your skills, knowledge, and training while fostering the social development of children aged 3 – 12 years. These positions are ideal for education, social work, human ecology or child & youth care students. You will gain experience working daily with children and have the opportunity to use and develop program facilitation skills in a supportive team environment. Must be a returning full-time post-secondary student to qualify for this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with children and youth ranging from 3 – 12 years in camp/program settings
  • Engaging with parents/caregivers and families of participants
  • Assisting in the development of camp/program curriculum and facilitate daily program plans
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all children by adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Working collaboratively with agency staff to ensure a positive camp experience for all

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be registered in a full-time post-secondary program in Fall 2018
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle as travel between sites is required
  • Experience working with children
  • Desire to support the healthy growth and development of children  
  • Current First Aid Certificate with Level C CPR/AER
  • Must have a recent Police Information Check and Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Check (completed within the past 3 months)
